There was a leak in the Japanese-style room, and since the house had been vacant for a while, it was left as it was, to the point where holes were appearing in the tatami mats. When we lifted the tatami mats and inspected under the floor, we found that one of the joists had corroded. We removed the floorboards, replaced the rotten joist, and finished the job by putting in new tatami mats.
